What I want do to in my community right now

1- Apply the Recycling System on my country. Right now in México there are not any culture about recycling and that makes me mad. The politicians don’t care. Neither that I know of any citizen.

2-  Give protection to the men that came every two days to our house to get rid off our garbage: the waste collector. They don’t have protective equipment to  use. They are in danger!

3- Plant on every street of every city trees. Right now, in the Sonora state in Mexico the government is cutting off a lot of plants and trees to give terrains to private companies to contaminate more the soil and cities. This need to STOP!

4- Give the homeless and poor citizens free housing and food and health care. Yes, health care!

5-  Build a street green-farm house in every street of every borough in the city, so people do save for vegetables and fruits that are sooo expensive and those more healthy, cheap and of quality.

These days

I have been very busy doing homework from my virtual university, and planning my fitness program. I am happy because I have two days trying to do the exercises. Of what I do not like in this moment are the low temperatures, here in the state have been in -6 °C !!!

I need to buy some clothes for this new clime, and keep exercising.

About another things I have in mind is doing a service to my community, I live in a third world country and there is a lot to do about everything and every direction I look.

q) Moritzbastei

The Moritzbastei is the only remaining part of the ancient town fortifications of Leipzig. Today it is widely known as a cultural centre.

Website: http://www.moritzbastei.de

The Moritzbastei was built as a bastion in between 1551-1554 under the supervision of the mayor Hieronymus Lotter, who was also responsible for Leipzig’s Altes Rathaus (old town hall) which is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Germany. Elector Moritz of Saxony directed the reconstruction of the town fortifications of Leipzig after it became largely destroyed during the Smalkaldic War between German Emperor Charles V and the Smalkaldic League.

After being stormed for the first time in the Thirty Years War, the Moritzbastei lost its military function in the Seven Years War. Henceforth it served as a store for trade goods and workplace for a bell founder and a book printer.

In the period 1796-1834, the first public school (1. Bürgerschule) was built over the basement of the Moritzbastei by architect Johann Carl Friedrich Dauthe. It was the first school in Germany without confessional segregated classes and was destroyed in 1943 during World War II.

From 1974 the Moritzbastei was rebuilt under the supervision of the University of Leipzig. More than 30,000 students were engaged in the reconstruction of the bastion, among them the recent Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel. From 1982 onwards the Moritzbastei was the official students club of the University of Leipzig.

Moritzbastei as students club

In 1973 or 1974 students discovered the remains of the Moritzbastei and persuaded the university and city of Leipzig to allow it to be rebuilt. Subsequently it was run by the Free German Youth as a venue for encounter and cultural events.

From 1992 the Moritzbastei was no longer part of the University of Leipzig and became a commercial foundation.

Moritzbastei since 1993

Since 1993 the Moritzbastei has been run under the licence of the Moritzbastei foundation as a well known cultural centre. Its main purpose being to foster and sustain the student and academic culture in Leipzig. The foundation is headed by the vice chancellor of the University of Leipzig. The Board of Trustees, which oversees the work of the foundation without institutional subvention, consists of one representative of the city of Leipzig, the Free State of Saxony and the student body.

In recent years artists from all over the world have been guests of the Moritzbastei.

Extracurricular Activities

I’m interested right now in doing activities that don’t involve to have large trips or better, not going anywhere far from my parents’ home. Not that I do not want to socialize, but with the temperatures decreasing, my problems with hypoglycemia and penniless I do not have a lot of alternatives.

So, I’m going to retake exercising and drawing.

Exercise

And…

Drawing class

Stay Healthy

Health care services

Germany is widely known for having one of the best health care systems in the world. A broad range of hospitals, medical practices and institutions guarantees low-cost medical care for everybody under Germany’s national social security scheme. HTWK Leipzig, like most German universities, does not offer any on-campus health care services of its own, but the Leipzig University Hospital and a dense network of general practitioners and specialists are there to serve the health care needs of the city’s population.

As an international student, you will be treated on the same basis as a resident of Germany. However, you are legally required to have sufficient health insurance coverage. If you decide to take out a health insurance policy with a public German insurance provider, most types of medical and dental treatments will be covered for a low monthly fee of about €66. This means you don’t have to pay anything for treatment when seeing a doctor or dentist, except for a fixed consultation fee of €10 per quarter, which is non-refundable. By contrast, if you decide to take out private health insurance, either in your home country or in Germany, you will need to pay your medical bills in advance and later file for reimbursement with your insurance provider.

Should you become seriously ill and require treatment at a hospital, the hospital will contact your public or private insurance provider to confirm that your treatment costs will be met. With public German insurance providers, this will generally be the case, especially in emergencies. You will have to pay a fixed charge of €10 per day for a maximum of 28 days in a year. This is non-refundable in Germany, but you may be able to seek reimbursement from your private insurance provider at home.

Medicines and bandages prescribed by a doctor or dentist can be obtained in any pharmacy in exchange for the prescription. You will have to pay 10 per cent of the cost subject to a minimum charge of €5 and a maximum charge of €10. These costs are not refundable. For minor drugs and medicines, such as painkillers and cough mixtures, you may be charged the full amount. Note that the sale of medication is strictly regulated in Germany: some drugs that you may be able to buy over the counter in your home country, such as antibiotics, may only be prescribed by doctors here.

Counseling for Personal Concerns

When I was in college there was a program of physiology counselors, but was only like a joke, because there wasn’t a real program where you can trust your most privet concerns. Every month I was invaded with depression, the only way to cope with it was suffering inside.

Now, If the possibility of suffering again with depression in graduate school comes, I want to use the services that the university offers me.

The mental health department or psychology clinics are:

1- Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

University Hospital Leipzig

website: http://psychiatrie.uniklinikum-leipzig.de/

The clinic is the Hospital of the Liepzig University:

University Hospital Leipzig

Website: http://www.uniklinikum-leipzig.de/

I do not not the fee to have access to this service, but I hope to have money to pay for it, or maybe it will be free for students.

——-

Right now my German skills are in baby steps. I would like to find support groups in or out the UL.
